“To the delirious eye, more lovely things of Paradise and Love-and all our own. Than young Hope in his sunniest hour hath known”-Edgar Allan Poe

Why run away when you know it’s bound to come?
Why pursue when you know you’ll eventually have it?
Why not stand still in virtuous patience?
We move, we walk, we run, in constant motion.
Why not stand still in meditative silence?
I have only lately realized that we spend so much time moving around that we get restless at the slight feel of inertia. We become paranoid. Worrisome. Even disoriented.
Being still is foreign to us.
But if you think about it, the best things in life happen in its stillness…
That look that just says it all.
That smile that just melts your heart.
That song that just makes your day.
That touch that lingers.
That moment when you kiss.
That pause when you say those three words.
That sigh when you want to let it all out.
It silences the confusion, the whispers, the unquieted beating of heart…
then you begin to appreciate that one moment in stillness.
To capture it.
To feel it.
To keep it.
In stillness, we find what we look for.
Perhaps it may not be at this time.
Not right away.
It may even pass us by.
But you’ll know because deep inside all you want is for everything to be still once that moment arrives.

Yeah, you’re right on the spot Marga.
Human beings are too captivated by movements, results or output. We tend to forget that the best moments in life happens during the process to obtain it; in “still” mode you describe it. *sigh*
I wish there’s a “pause” button I can push to “freeze” that special moments whenever it happens. Alas, that’s just too impossible.
Its just we will need to learn to appreciate the people (good or bad) we met along the way or special events that changes our life drastically. Every second counts. Thus, reminiscing these moments will surely benefit us somehow in the future…
I guess, I’m just lost with my own words. ‘Till next time Marga. A very good blog indeed, as usual

nicely done girl..
thinking from the other side, if we stand still in silence for all time, won’t we get bored?
i think, we should keep our dynamic and flexibility.
in this crazy world we should run (not rush) .. but -as your word: stand still-, and just let it flow by the time, sometimes useful.
we are human anyway, we plan, but sometimes we don’t have what we’ve planned.
nice writing! keep it up marga, and merry Christmas!

Consider this verse: Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, ” [salvation]
Gal 5:7 You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?
1 Cor 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
~ everything under the sun have its season and reason, not all the time you have to wait, be still, let the time take its turn like Juan Tamad Story idling under the tree believing it [fruit] will fall eventually on its own accord.
I kinda disagree that best things in life happen in stillness, i think the appropriate relative is “sudden/ly” the example provided is more on imagining or imagination: the kiss, the song, touch that lingers etcetera. [suddenly [not stillness] .. life has new meaning to me.. i remember this song from long ago, only the line though]
As a Christian we are always on the go, whenever we can do something for the good of other/s spirituality sake, relentlessly, unceasingly we have to do something, life is too short to be idle, an idle mind is a workshop of evil. of course it doesnt mean we dont have the luxury as what your trying to imply, maganda rin yan.. minsan - minsan

Some interesting ideas from this blog ..
Where do these MOMENTS come from?
Why are these MOMENTS so PRECIOUS?
Are these MOMENTS NOT milestones, markers, memories of fluid dynamic events/experiences?
And these MOMENTS have value NOT so much for the instant in time, but for what that memory represents .. the value and preciousness of the experience. And these memories need NOT always be pleasant .. but they give us something of value .. a lesson learned, a revelation, an intense feeling, etc .. its LIFE. As said above stillness is eventually boring, but its also important to pause occasionally to enjoy and appreciate what is in the NOW .. and even reflect on the PAST .. and dream of the FUTURE.
If life is like a stream, don’t be left behind on the shore .. ride the wave. Yes there is risk, and everyone has there own tolerance for risk. Nothing ventured .. nothing gained.
But as with most everything, moderation and balance is important. After all to ride a roller-coaster constantly would likely make it difficult to appreciate the NOW and build on the PRESENT to form a history and context that is rooted from a starting event and continues into your FUTURE. Not to mention that too much motion would make me hurl .. lol.
I think it was well said above that MOMENTS or STILLNESS could be akin to an IMAGE which might even just represent a dream or fictitious idea.
And, to want to FREEZE-frame a moment .. doesn’t that imply a fear that the moment will pass and the continuity lost? Some of the best things in life require a LEAP of Faith .. NOT a standing pause.
I prefer to stay in motion, but I have also learned to slow down to savor and build something more meaningful and PRECIOUS. I hope that part of my legacy will be the EFFECTS I have one the people I meet and interact with. And yes, I hope to impart memories of events and shifts in their life that have a LASTING persistence throughout their existence .. maybe even until that FINAL MOMENT.

But you’ll know because deep inside all you want is for everything to be still once that moment arrives.
Very inspiring. Remind me to stop moving and appreciate stillness. Thank you. Please keep writing.

When you believe fully in something and others do not, it only means one simple thing. You have outgrown your peers. Waiting productively has its benefits. The writers of the Bible themselves had to undergo a sufficient amount of introspection and action before they were able to write what they wrote. Funny are authors today. They like to give human definitions to perfection that is why others are easily misled. Bias towards the human condition is the one thing that I really dislike. It’s an insult to perfection. I wrote a few comments a long time ago in one of your blogs. The title of the blog was “Lost”. I had to refer to myself in third person back then. Ironic it is to address Myself in such a manner. Weird. Hehe! Keep Striving.
yeah, I agree. . . you have nice thoughts for everyone.

You want to solve your problems while accommodating such miraculous changes? Simplify your lifestyle. You will have more time for the things that truly matter over those that do not. Always remember, there’s a first time for everything. That’s where adjustment comes in.
When the whole world falls apart, one person (or a couple) should keep it together.

Would you like to know what I really want right now? I want to feel your right hand touching my left cheek while I hold it subtly and warmly with my left hand, then, use my right hand to reach for your left hand so I can hold it close to my lips and kiss it a few times. After that, while still holding your right to my left cheek using my left hand, I slowly hold it away as I kiss my way to the last inch of its index finger. Then, I hold both of your hands (palms up), and give each one a long kiss… I want to kiss the very hands that got you to this point… You have such lovely hands… I love you so much Marga…

I know there’s already too much information surging through your mind right now. There’s only one remedy. It’s time to start with a clean slate. Start organizing these ideas in a way that it would give you a real sense of what you need to understand. This is the only way to know who you really are.

Let’s talk about goose bumps. The moment you start having them, it’s the only opportunity you can evolve faster. Just take everything in. Force yourself to believe what you are seeing while you take control. After this, you’ll feel as if your brain is rejuvenated. Talk about going through an open door.

I ate ants when I was still a kid. No kidding! Talk about awkward and humiliating. I just picked them up where they were at then just started eating. Haha! Years later, I found out there are others who are crazy over eating varieties of insects. I thought to myself that it wasn’t fair. I ate one kind first then they are the ones who are getting all the credit. Haha! Well, anyways, happy birthday.

Would you like to stop time temporarily? It’s a visual trick actually. Sit on a bench. Watch the crowd. Then close your eyes forcefully. The image that you last saw will be retained in freeze frame. You can also do this while you’re in the shower or while you’re in the rain. Hehe! A gift for your birthday. (Claro is still sleeping.)
